SCS SJR 5 -- ELECTION OF COUNTY ASSESSORS

SPONSOR:  Schmitt (Stream)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Special Committee on
General Laws by a vote of 8 to 4.

Upon voter approval, this proposed constitutional amendment
requires all charter county assessors, except for those from
Jackson County, to be elected to office.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2010, FY 2011, and
FY 2012.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill allows the people to
vote for their county assessor which is a more democratic
process.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Schmitt.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
